I love Oakcha’s Gold Gem dupe—it’s stronger and longer lasting than either the original, Byredo’s Bal D’Afrique or Dossier’s Ambery Vetiver.
Similar in scent to the original in opening and dry down, it also disappears after 3-4 hours, despite macerating/oxidizing the alcohol off for a few weeks. Love this beautiful, easy-to-wear daily scent. It smells fantastic layered with EDTs and light EDPs like Jo Malone or other Byredo fragrances because it’s so light and calming, like a lotion or powder made of sweetened vetiver. This is always going to be a crowd-pleaser because of it’s classy, clean girl vibe.
There is a musk that comes out after an hour, but if I’m not in the mood for musk, I cover the sharp, animalic scent with vanilla fragrances and I’m all set. Love this scent, wish I was sponsored by Oakcha so I could try out more scents.

The first bottle I purchased of Gold Gem was spot on to Bal D’ Afrique. The next bottle smelled completely different. Not bad just different. I decided to give it another try. This new bottle smells a bit more citrusy. Not bad but still differs from my 2nd variant. And the bottle is greasy.
